Enough with the sexy 'girls'
Scarlett Johansson tops the list of the "100 Sexiest Women in the World," in a poll of readers by FHM magazine."
Now there's no denying she's a pretty girl, but that's part of the problem. She IS a girl and not really a woman yet.
In this list, Angelina Jolie is No. 2, followed by Jessica Alba, Jessica Simpson, Keira Knightley, Halle Berry, Jenny McCarthy, tennis star Maria Sharapova, Carmen Electra and Teri Hatcher.
Trouble is _ that with the exception of Hatcher, who is 41, and Berry, who's 39 _ the rest are pretty much children.
So here we are taking it upon outselves to put out our own 2006 list of the sexiest, growed-up mature women.
In no particular order they are:
Diane Lane, 41; Virginia Madsen, 44; Emma Thompson, 46; Jessica Lange, 56; Annette Bening, 47; Cybill Shepherd, 56; and Sharon Stone, 48.
Now these, are sexy women...

'Mary Tyler Moore' makeover musings

She's helped make Wisteria Lane a Sunday destination, but can Teri Hatcher really turn the world on with her smile?
Mary Tyler Moore thinks so.

Asked recently by "Access Hollywood" about who could fill the shoes of Mary Richards in a possible remake of "The Mary Tyler Moore Show," Moore said: "I was thinking Teri Hatcher might be good. She's got the look, and I think she does well with comedy, so that might happen."
Working from that premise, we decided to cast the rest of a potential new version of the show. One caveat: Because we envision this as a TV series, not a movie, we didn't cast stars who primarily work on the big screen.
Jason Alexander as Lou Grant: He's got the bald, pudgy thing going, a la Ed Asner, and he's got the irascibility to play Lou. (Just picture Alexander saying, "You've got spunk. ... I hate spunk.")
Steve Carell as Ted Baxter: If Will Ferrell were still doing TV, he'd be the obvious choice. In his place, it's hard to go wrong with Carell, who's proven with "The Office" how brilliantly he can play out-of-touch. Also, remember his hilarious turn as the dim-witted weatherman in "Anchorman"?
Evan Handler as Murray Slaughter: Best known as Charlotte's (Kristin Davis) hubby Harry Goldblatt on "Sex and the City," he is the perfect comic foil. We can totally picture him aiming barbs at Carell's air-headed Ted.
Susie Essman as Rhoda Morgenstern: Remember, this is an update, so some of Essman's obscene sassiness (see her work as Susie Greene in "Curb Your Enthusiasm") could be incorporated into the part as Mary's loudmouthed best friend.
Heather Locklear as Sue Ann Nivens: She's got the look, and it's time for her to return to her catty "Dynasty"/"Melrose Place" roots.
Jennifer Tilly as Georgette Franklin Baxter: One simple reason: that voice.
Sandra Oh as Phyllis Lindstrom: Oh has that same combo of humor and sarcasm that Cloris Leachman did. And, it's the 21st century, not the 1970s, and we're pretty sure Mary's friends would be a more ethnically diverse group. |
