SPECTACULAR. I couldn't believe the spectacle. It was amazing watching the mixture of human interaction (coordination) and technical wizardry that the Chinese brought together to open these games. They made such fantastic use of the entire stadium and the surrounding city, including the screen at the top of the bird's nest, the lights given to the audience and the lights and fireworks in the surrounding city-scape. They made such a fantastic visual impact in the stadium with the use of the paper scroll set and the design of the presentations. You could see the impact from a great distance. The overhead shots were spectacular. I don't remember an opening that can compare with the visual impact of this one.
